Alright, another doll question, but I figured this is the best place for it.
She's the classic Jasmine with the 2 piece teal outfit. But she comes with plain flat shoes instead of the curled-toed ones.
On the back of the box, she is pictured wearing flats as well. Did Mattel make a mistake? Is this an earlier or later Jasmine version? (Because a lot of -classic- Jasmine dolls out there have the white curled-toed shoes)
Why did my Mattel "Classic" Jasmine doll come with Flats instead of the curled-tipped shoes?
You're right, I just bought 2 "Classic" mint in the box Jasmine dolls from 1992 on ebay, There are alternate versions and they look different from each other one has different painted eyes, straighter hair and "curly tip" white shoes. The other doll has wavy hair with flat shoes, bigger eyes. The curly shoes are better because they don't fall off. The flat shoes doll was the 1st edition and the curly shoes was the 2nd edition. I prefer the second edition doll because she looks more like the character. Also there are 2 different versions of Aladdin as well. The 1st Aladdin doll came packaged with a lamp that changes color when rubbed and the Abu monkey has beige feet. The 2nd later versions came with a lamp that did not change color and Abu's hands and feet are brown. I read somewhere that those changes were made to save money.
Reply:I remember getting a Jasmine doll when they first came out for my birthday (right after the movie came out). If I remember correctly, she also wore flats.
Reply:I don't think it's a mistake. It's probably a marketing ploy to get kids to say, "But I don't have the Jasmine with flat shoes!!" Or, it could be for all the collectors. Many want to have all the variations of the doll so they can have the 'complete collection'.
When I was younger, I remember Mattel doing that with a lot of Barbies too.
