How should pointe shoes fit?

I have been taking pointe class twice a week for about a month now for the very first time, and i am not sure if my shoes are fitting correctly. I am able to fit my finger inside of them all the way into the box pretty much. But I have been wearing them for a while so i am not sure if this is normal. I am going to go in to have a new pair fitted thsi week, but I would like to know a little more what i shoudl be looking for before I totally just let somebody else tell me what is the right shoe again.

You may need to flatten the box a bit. Ask your teacher how to do this safely. When I have time I usually massage the box flat using my hands and the floor. When I am busy I use a door or just step on them, but it weakens the shoes quickly.

I have a narrow foot so I have the same problems. You so research NOW what shoes will work good with your feet. If you attach a photo of your feet without shoes on I can make a few suggestions.

What type of shoes are you wearing now?

If you have tapered toes go with a tapered box.
Reply:fit your foot all over no loosness!
Reply:im not sure how to explain how pointes should fit but can you fit your finger in there when there laced up? if you can then your shoes are to big. A starting point for finding the right size is going 2-3 sizes smaller then your normal street shoe. but it also depends on the brand/style of the shoe.

my suggestion would be to ask a dance teacher or a older dancer for help.
Reply:They have to be an exact tightness all over ~~
Reply:you shouldnt be able to do that. Your feet should go numb because the shoes are so tight. You need to get new ones and have the person in the dance store fit them for you.
Reply:They should fit pretty snug but NOT really tight if you go up on your toes and the heel comes of your foot yea their to big
