Anyone use gaynor minden pointe shoes? if not, what kind and why?

im due for a new pair soon, because the box on my current ones are getting a little soft and torn up as well. i want to get gaynor mindens so any good/bad comments on these?

if you dont use gaynor mindens what kind of pointe shoes do you wear and why?

Anyone use gaynor minden pointe shoes? if not, what kind and why?
I use them. I like them well enough. They're not too tight on your arch and they don't need to be broken in. I don't think they're cheating though, because you need a lot more of your own strength to stay on pointe.
Reply:I do not suggest Gaynor Mindens if you are a serious ballet student seeking a porfessional ballet life. they are known as cheater shoes, or for big girls. Report It

Reply:A fellow student of mine was yelled at after buying these $80+ shoes and wearing them to class, she was told never to wear them again/// Report It

Reply:as they are known as cheater shoes or for big girls. cheater shoes because they are extremely pre-arched and you do not have much work to do. Report It

Reply:I have Gaynors and I love them. And if you have the right shank, then they won't weaken your feet. Also, I can roll through mine perfectly fine. They aren't the prettiest, I'll admit it, but they fit me so well. Good luck with finding your next shoes!
Reply:I got them once and they wernt really the best for me but I've had friends who adore them so it kind of depends on what you like but you should go try them out
Reply:NOOOOO!!! please dont get gaynors.

they are terrible terrible shoes. You can't roll through them because they have a plastic shank, so they also don't mold to your feet and come with a pre-built in arch. They help you up on to pointe so you don't build any strength or you lose what you already have, and you can't feel the floor at all. And i think they look really ugly on just about everybody.

I know this because i had them for 3 years so i definitely know what i'm talking about. When i first switched from gaynors to other shoes i had no strength in my feet or ankles. So please please try something else anything else.

I've had russian pointes which didn't work for me but they were nice shoes. Freeds are really nice shoes but they die very quickly. and now i have Capezios which i like a lot because they mold to my feet but they last a pretty long time. But theres also Blochs Grishkos and others, so go somewhere and get fitted if your looking for new shoes. but please dont get gaynors.
Reply:Gaynors break in way too fast for me. I like gambas and contemporas
Reply:I do not reccommend Gaynor Mindens. Kristi Boone and Gillian Murphy are really the only people who look good in them. Those of us with high arches find pre-arched shanks to be more comfortable *when standing flat* until the shoe is broken in and conforms to our true arch shape. It's no different from wearing orthotic arch supports in our street shoes. If you don't require orthotics, you might not need pre-arched shanks either. Pre-arched shanks make it easier to dance and what not, but this also causes your strength to weaken because the shoe is doing all the work. The also seem very expensive compared to other types.

If you want a stronger shoe, try Grishko Fouette. But they are a *strong* shoe and it may not be best for a person with a weaker arch. Plus there is some slight gapping in the front, but it can be fixed with some elastic. I also reccommend any shoes by Sansha or Bloch.

Good luck!
Reply:I have used Bloch Aspirations which I didn't like much, Grishko 2007s which I liked a lot, and Freed Studios which I like.
Reply:I wear Gaynor Mindens and i love them sooooo much! They are good cause they already have the arch and it wont be painful when you first get them like the capezios or the clochs or any other kind of pointe shoe. They also are easy to break into wear your toes are. That is why i love them soooooooo much!
