My cat poops in my shoes. Is there anything i can do to have my cat stop doing that?

i do keep the litter box cleaned on a daily basis

My cat poops in my shoes. Is there anything i can do to have my cat stop doing that?

Reply:cats hate to be wet, try to catch kitty when she is doing her deed and squirt her/him good with a water bottle.


cats also don't like the smell of black pepper, try putting some in your shoes, or even a foot powder in the shoes, anything to make them smell different.


i've been told ammonia will repel cats, try spraying a little on them.
Reply:SOmetimes, you just have to put the shoes up higher, or keep them in the closet with the door closed. If that cannot be done, keep you shoes in shoeboxes with covers, they are pretty cheap at like walmart or target.

Reply:If they don't do anywhere else but your shoes...I would just put my shoes out of their reach instead of fighting them about it....but if it's a here and there thing in the house, I would get some of that bitter-apple spray you buy at the pet stores to spray around....they say they smell it and can't stand it, but yet it's odorless to humans

Reply:You can by an odor spray. You can't smell it, but your pets will hate it. It helps keep your pets out of places you don't want them to be. On a side note... you're cats are strange.... made me laugh really hard to read it though.

Stash your shoes in the closet, under a bed, etc...





Every time your cat uses the cat box, give her a nice treat. I recommend tuna!!
Reply:this is going to sound weird, but.. if she pooped or peed in the closet where the shoes are.. and you didn't get the SMELL out.. (you may not smell it but the cat can) they will keep going back. Go to a pet store and buy a product that is meant to get that smell out. But its true, if you do not completely get rid of the smell that the cat can smell she will KEPP GOING BACK.. best of luck!
Reply:put tissues in your shoes. then its easier to clean up. i have 3 cats i know wat its like!grose. the smell never comes out.

Reply:I had a cat that did this once, but he never did it again. Maybie try keeping your shoes in a closet or something. (Or in an area where the cat cant get to them.)
