Ideas for creating a shoe box diorama with the third Harry Potter book...?

using the scene when the dementors attack Sirius Black at the lake and Harry uses his Patronus to scare them off.

I was thinking of including Dementors, Harry, Hermione, and Sirius at the lake. I need help figuring out how to create these props.

J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" series has become a rich world with dozens of major and minor characters, each with their own personalities, histories and agendas. Here's a quick primer on the major characters in Harry's story.

Reply:To make the dementors...

How about black fabric, pipe cleaner or yarn and a cotton ball. Put the cotton ball into the black fabric to make kind of like "black" little ghosts. Hang them from a string or clear fishing line and poke holes in the top of the shoe box.

trees......small branches glued upright to look like minature trees.

I would cut a flat shape of a deer to create Harry's Patronus' stag and glue it to the back.

An easy way to make the people is to either draw them on cardstock/posterboard and fold a flap to make them stand or

3-d people

popsicle sticks and model magic ...

use the model magic to mold a person onto the popsicle stick...this way your figures will stand.

You can also use clothespins and paint them like people....round ones work best. Good luck!

For Harry, Hermione and Sirius, you could buy the actual figures or print pictures from the net and cut them out and glue the back to a popsicle stick bent at the bottom as a stand or you could try clay.

As for the dementors, try black tissue paper with some type of form underneath like popsicle sticks, tooth picks, etc and hang them from the top with thread.

For the patronus, try something shimmery that you can cut out like wrapping paper, scrapbook paper.

We always used tissue paper for the ground, lake etc. It's cheap and hides a lot.

Good luck, sounds fun.
