like a ship, maybe, but its due in two weeks! i wanna make it cool..
Hey, I have to do a project on Treasure Island and have to build something in a shoe box. Ideas?
How about the middle of the bottom looking like a sandy beach with a X at some point on it. Paint the remaining part of the bottom to look like water, and the sides look like the sky with a painted ship in the distance. Have a treasure chest on the X located on the beach. Pirates surrounding treasure chest on the island.
Reply:tyr making a pirate ship and you could use some of those pirates of the carribean action figues for your pirates
Reply:With the Johnny Depp Priate movie toys, you could use some action figures or accessories on the market now...in you local Wal-Mart! Good luck with your diorama! I love making those. If your ideas expand...get a box for men's boots!
Reply:The 1939 Word's Fair was held there, in fact the island was built to hold the fair. Google it.
Reply:don't put a tax information there..i would make it a nice place where you had a stilento...nice high heels
Reply:The Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay is a man-made Island that attaches to a natural Island called Yurba Buena.
Your shoebox project could be a model of the island reflecting it's past as an airport.
It was where the sea planes docked - the famous Yankee Clippers.
It was the airport that served the city of San Francisco until the Bay Bridge was built and planes could no longer land safely on the runways. The airport was moved south to the current location of the San Francisco International Airport near San Mateo.
The old terminal building on the Island is now a museum.
Some other history of Treasure Island includes it's use in WWII as the embarkation port for soldiers going to the Pacific War. A famous hotel, the Mark Hopkins, had a bar on the top floor (Top of the Mark), where many a sweetheart bid farewell to her soldier man going off to risk his life in the fighting. Treasure Island is clearly visible from the windows of the bar.
Enjoy your project!
Reply:Make the island with clay and stick in trees. U can put in little ships in the water.

What is the best way to raise the temperature of 250 mm. of water in a shoe box?
To raise the temperature at least 20 degrees celcius
What is the best way to raise the temperature of 250 mm. of water in a shoe box?
heat it
Reply:BEST WAY ? Does that mean quickest? Safest? Please define BEST? Probably the quickest way would be to add some chemicals that would release heat, that is cause an EXOTHERMIC REACTION. Adding some concentrated acids or some metals like sodium metal would release heat rapidly. Obviously this would NOT BE THE SAFEST WAY WITHOUT PROPER PRECAUTIONS!
Reply:Surround the shoebox with black paper. black attracts more sunlight and heat. I did an experiment where i heated up a brick using black cardboard paper and the brick was hot to the touch.
Reply:hi
Reply:Cover the whole thing with plastic wrap, then set it in the sun. If you don't have sun, set it directly under a lamp, but don't melt the plastic. The plastic will help the water get hotter, quicker. If you set the box on a piece of metal, and put that in the sun too, it should get hotter, even more quickly.
Reply:why all the water in a shoe box sounds very strange to me...
Reply:You can heat it with a heating coil inside the water and not touching the sides or bottom of the box.
Alternatively, if the cardbox bottom is not too thick, you can raise the box on a stand and experiment by heating the bottom with a moderate open flame like a couple of candles. The heat can be transferred without burning off the paper if applied correctly. Japanese restaurants do serve piping hot soup/noodles using paper bowls heated below by open fuel-fire.

If you were a kid and your mom did this, would you be mad at her?
My daughter and I were coming back from shopping.
I bought her a pair of shoes.
We then had gone out to eat.
Of course the cramps and the major urge to poop, did not kick in till on the freeway.
The cramps were buildiing, I was sweating,I was nervous
I knew I could not make it to the next town off the freeway to use a bathroom, and no rest area in sight.
I paniced, I could tell any minute that I was going to blow.
I have a nice car and I did not want the mess in the car.
The freeway was to busy for me to go on the side of the road.
So I pulled over
put on my flashers
took my daughters shoes out of the shoe box
pulled down my pants and I exploded my crap into the shoe box.
I was surprised how full the shoe box was.
My daughter is 12, so it was a fairly good sixe box.
I had nothing to wipe with, so I pulled up my pants and let out a sigh or relief.
I threw the smelly box in ditch.
Would you be mad if your mom used your shoebox

They range from a glorified styrofoam cooler (picture those you take camping) to miniature caskets with a vault that goes over it. Alot depends on how much the family wants to spend, too.

My two and half year old male cat has started to pee on beds in shoe boxes and even the floor?
at first I thought it was because I change the litter boxto one with a door on it so I took the door off but still I came in today to find that he has done it again on my sons bed
My two and half year old male cat has started to pee on beds in shoe boxes and even the floor?
Hi there...when cats suddenly begin to urinate or defecate outside of the litter box and they are spayed/neutered it could be indicative of a urinary tract infection or another underlying medical problem.
Here's an article by Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine of Feline Health about house soiling causes/problems: http://www.vet.cornell.edu/fhc/brochures...
House soiling is the most common behavior problem reported by cat owners. It includes urination and/or defecation outside the litter box, as well as urine spraying.
Why do cats eliminate outside of the litter box?
One common misconception is that cats soil in inappropriate places for revenge. It is tempting to conclude, "He defecated on the living room carpet to punish me for leaving him for the weekend." But this kind of calculation requires sophisticated cognitive abilities that cats aren't believed to possess. Furthermore, this conclusion assumes that cats view their urine and feces as distasteful, when in fact they do not. It is only we humans who view it that way.
Medical Problems
So why do cats urinate or defecate on your bed or carpet? Medical problems are one possibility. Inflammation of the urinary tract may cause painful or frequent urination, inability to urinate, bloody urine, and crying during urination. An affected cat is likely to eliminate outside the litter box if he comes to associate the box with painful urination, or if he has an increased urgency to urinate. In addition, kidney, liver, and thyroid diseases often lead to increased drinking and urination. Inflammation of the colon or rectum, intestinal tract tumors, intestinal parasites, and other gastrointestinal conditions may cause painful defecation, increased frequency or urgency to defecate, and decreased control of defecation. Age-related diseases that interfere with a cat's mobility (for example, arthritis, nervous system disorders, or muscular diseases), or with his cognitive functions can also influence his ability to get to the litter box in time. In short, any medical condition that interferes with a cat's normal elimination behavior can lead to house soiling.
Litter Box Aversions
Behavioral problems, such as litter box aversions, inappropriate site preferences, or urine spraying can also lead to house soiling. An aversion implies that there is something about the litter box that your cat finds unsavory. It could be the box, the litter, the location of the box, or all three.
...please see website for full details
Reply:Has he been fixed?
If not, he may be leaving his scent to attract a female cat. They usually do this in the spring time but he may be messed up if he is mostly an indoor cat.
Reply:My cat did the same thing once, I took him to the vet. because i thought maybe he was sick or trying to tell me there was something wrong. there was, he had a urinary tract infection. vet put him on an antibiotic and within days he stopped peeing in the house and used the litter box.
Reply:The cat might have a urinary tract infection, they're very common in male cats of that age.
You should probably take the cat to the vet, especially if you notice him straining to urinate, passing very small amounts of urine, or pink/blood tinged urine.
Reply:Is he neutered? Unneutered males often mark their territory by spraying urine.
Have their been any other changes in the home? New baby? New pet? Rearranged furniture? Moved litter box? New kind of litter? Less or more frequent changing of the box?
Is he otherwise healthy? The first thing to do would be to take him to the vet to be sure he doesn't have a problem like a urinary tract infection, bladder stones, etc. If he's healthy then you would need to look for a behavioral cause--like changing the type of litter box.
Good luck!
Reply:Ok, I assume he is neutered, if so there are alot of reasons. Did you change the litter box back to the old one? cats don't like change when it comes to there litter box. Did change the litter as well? try to experiment, you should have one more litter box then you have cats (one cat=2boxes, 2 cats=3 boxes.) Buy several litter boxes, a covered one, an uncovered one, a small one a big one, buy different litter, the clay stuff, the really fine stuff, scented, unscented, and the recycled newpaper kind, fill sll the boxes with a different kind as see which one he uses the most, which ever one is the gonna be your winner. Litter diversion is the most commom reason for cats to urinate outside of the box, sadly it usually turns into a behavioral problem after that. If that doesn't work let me know if have more suggestions.
Reply:First, take him to the vet and have him checked out. Could be a medical problem. If nothing medical, talk to your vet. He can give you good advice.

How can I make my own water shed for a school project using a plastic shoe box?
A watershed is just a portion of land that drains into a body of water. So put some gardening soil in the box, dig a stream through it, fill with fake water like blue tissue paper or blue foil/seran wrap, and make little trees on either side of the stream bank. But make the stream lower, and make the sides get steeper and steeper away from the stream, like a river between two hills. Good luck!

Where do broken hearts go? I used to keep all mine in a shoe box?
but I have run out of room to store them..anyone have any better ideas?

You could always fix them with duct tape and reuse them. Beats the hell out of replacing them so often.

My dog ate one of those packets of beads that come in shoe boxes. my dog is a yorkie...what could happen?
It will dehydrate him because they are designed to keep moisture out so give him plenty of water and take him to the vet asap. Good luck.

CALL YOUR VET, MAKE AN EMERGENCY VET HOSPITAL VISIT IMMEDIATELY. EVEN IF THERE ARE NO SYMPTOMS, MAKE SURE YOUR DOG IS OKAY. YORKIES ARE TOO CUTE TO LOSE TO IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERSHIP.

Reply:Those things that say "Toxic, do not ingest"? I'd call his vet.
Reply:You should call a vet or poison control, but what they are is silica gel. The silica gel goes in the package to absorb moisture from whatever is inside. Supposedly, it's only very harmful if say, the packet has absorbed something poisonous such as some human medication or toxic chemicals. Unlikely in a shoe box. Nevertheless, it can cause diarrhea %26amp; vomiting in your dog's system, which can dehydrate him/her. They'd have to eat a lot though in order to make them really really sick. My cat ate a whole packet once and the only consequence was some loose stools. So your best bet would be to call the vet and they will advise you on how to handle it.
Reply:ah im so so sorry that is terrible get the dog to the vet or call some pet poison control center. i hope your dogs better. i love yorkies so much mine just drowned a couple months ago so i hope your dog is healthy and stays with you forever :)
Reply:3 possibilyts he craps it out he throws it up or its stuck call vet they will give it xrays
Reply:It is silica gel, used to absorb moisture.
Call your vet ASAP to see if you need to get the dog to vomit it up.
If so, you'll need to get the dog to drink hydrogen peroxide. A syringe (without the needle) is the easiest way to introduce the H2O2.
Good luck!

What are the tiny bags full of clear beads that come in shoe boxes there for?
its usually a white bag that says "throw away, dont eat" (or something like that) on it. whats its purpose??
What are the tiny bags full of clear beads that come in shoe boxes there for?
The crystals are there to absorb mositure. This is important with leather goods [like shoes and purses] so that they dont get damaged when they are sitting in trucks, containers, or stockrooms.
Reply:They keep your shoes smelling fresh!
Reply:idk i allway wanted to kno that too and thay come in other stuff too ( =
Reply:Its silica gel - to absorb moisture,
"Silica gel is most commonly encountered in everyday life as beads packed in a semi-permeable plastic. In this form, it is used as a desiccant to control local humidity in order to avoid spoilage of some goods."
Reply:i asked my Boyfriend that and he said i do not know! i guess its a girl thin cause i dont know
Reply:It's cat food.
Reply:they lied, you are suppose to eat them!
they keep smell away?
Reply:If anybody is following you after you buy the shoes, like to try and come and steal your shoes, you can empty out the beads on the ground and they will trip. It is kind of just a little safety device they started throwing in there after all those kids got killed for their "Reebok's The Pump"s.
Reply:Its to keep mold from your shoes when they were being shipped and, like someone else said, 2 keep them fresh.
Otherwise.... ew.

What different ways can I make a time capsule beside using a shoe box?
I'm doing history project and I need to make a time capsule. If you have any pictures that show different time capsule, that would be helpfully too.
What different ways can I make a time capsule beside using a shoe box?
have a parent take you to a hardware store. look for a length of PVC pipe large and long enough for you to put whatever you want into it. and get two caps and PVC glue. a perfect time capsule.

What should i do if my dog ate the posion in the shoe box?

What should i do if my dog ate the posion in the shoe box?
if it happened within 30 minutes ago get some peroxide down the dogs throat, that will make him vomit then get to the Vet ASAP.

Reply:If it's that packet that comes in the shoe box ... did he eat it all? Call the vet and ask what to do.
Our little bitty puppy (probably around 11 weeks) managed to find that little packet (about the size of those sugar packets) and managed to eat a little bit before I saw him and took it away!
Panicked, I called the vet - they told me to give him about a tablespoon of peroxide and watch him. He puked a little while later (within 30 minutes) and was fine.
But I don't know what your circumstances are, how big your dog is or what sort of poison your dog ate. If I were you, I'd call the vet ... right now.
Reply:Call the vet asap. I know when dogs eat rat poison you should give them peroxide within an hour of digesting poison to make them vomit and then take them to the vet asap as they need to administer vit k.

Unless you are an amazon and have enormous feet, there is not a dog that will fit in a shoe box comfortably.

Teacup yorkies, mini poms, mini dauchounds, etc are all under 10lbs and should fit in that size range. But PLEASE remember dogs are almost as big of commitment as a child is, most live 10-20 years.

instead so you have to look at things like personality, level of care, ease if trainingm energy level and temperament, a cost to care for, and if you are away part of the day are they a breed that is comfortable being alone, is it good to have around children or other dogs, to see if these attributes will fit your lifestyle and you have to research the breed carefully so as to know if you can care for it properly before ever buying one, plus it cost a lot of money to care for a dog
Dogs that are small enough to fit is a shoe box often need an extreme amount of care, they are generally very fragile as puppies and can die easily if over stressed, if diet is changed or if a meal time is missed they often require very frequent feedings because their tummies are so small, so is you are in school all day and other family members are working and the puppy is going to be alone more than 6 hours it would likely die. so a very poor choice in that case and when a puppy gets about 3 or 4 months old it will not stay in a shoe box it will be running all over and peeing and pooping everywhere and getting into mischief chewing and eating anything laying around, without proper training and confinement eg dog crate

Unless you are an amazon and have enormous feet, there is not a dog that will fit in a shoe box comfortably.

Need a new car up to $15k something small but not a shoe box! not fussed about make as long as its under 5yrs?
the hyundia's and kia's have become pretty decent cars if you have 15k to spend you should visit either of these dealers and find out how far your money goes, a new honda civic will be about this price also and while the korean cars beat honda's warranty honda's have proven [given proper care] to last just about forever. toyota corolla's last and should be on your short list as well. the latest and greatest from the [big three] are basically disappointments with some redeeming aspects but are unrefined for their price.
Need a new car up to $15k something small but not a shoe box! not fussed about make as long as its under 5yrs?
Toyotas run forever and the Camry is probably the best car for your dollar.
Reply:I love my Scion xA. They start at about $12,500, and are made by Toyota (under the Scion brand). They have the same frame and engine as the Toyota Echo, so they're made well. I have had mine since 04 and had no problems. They're easily customized online or at the dealer. I'm not sure if they're sold out of the US.
Reply:I have an '01 Ford Focus ZX3 hatchback, it's been great. No mechanical problems, great mileage, comfortable (plenty of head room!), and it handles the corners well. Not over-powered, but more than enough to keep up with traffic without really trying. Small enough to get around easily in the city, large enough to carry 5 people (if the people in the back are on good terms with each other), and the trunk is bigger than it looks. Also, the rear seats can be laid flat if you need to carry something large. You can probably bet one for under $10k - new ones are close to $15k.

Need help in making a model anderson shelter ot of a shoe box?
Check online for a picture, they were used in England during
WW2 and were very effective in sheltering people from the german bombing raids, unless the bomb made a direct hit that is.Usually you dug a hole in the backyard and covered it with the half circle A. shelter approximately the size of a small shed, then sometimes people would put sandbags around it for extra protection.
Need help in making a model anderson shelter ot of a shoe box?
I wouldn't use a shoe box, get hold of some of that corrugated card-board, paint it grey that will look great, as they were made of corrugated steel.

How to make 3D models of 1930's farmers for a shoe box diorama by using only common house hold appliances??

How to make 3D models of 1930's farmers for a shoe box diorama by using only common house hold appliances??
You're wanting to make *3D farmers* (and 3-D tree and pitchfork) for a diorama?
I'd say there are many ways to create figures (and dress them like farmers) and also to create a tree and pitchfork, but I don't understand the common household "appliances" part.
Did you really mean "appliances" (or parts of appliances), or did you just mean "materials" commonly found around the house?
If you want to explain a little more, I'll suggest some things, or you can ask the question again with more specifics.
Meanwhile, you might want to check out these pages at my site for making small figures, and trees, from polymer clay --or use another type of clay:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/kids_begin...
(... click on the categories called SCULPTING and also SCENES %26amp; DIORAMAS...)
http://www.glassattic.com/polymer/houses...
(... click on SCENERY, LANDSCAPING, Etc. for lessons on trees)
And for "farmers" in the 1930's, that would depend on the part of the country you wanted... I suspect you're looking for "Dust Bowl" farmers, and if that's the case, here are some photos you might want to check out:

Hi can anyone help? have a transit (ice cream van) had to have new brake cylinders and shoes put on the the ot
other day but today when put into reverse the van moves back a couple of feet then stalls, thought it might be the gear box but its going into gear easy and not grinding or jumping out of gear,it feels like the brakes are on and appears to be moving to 1 side (brakes etc were put on the rear) is it possible for the brakes to be sticking on? and would that cause the trouble im having? if not any ideas what the problem is and how to solve it. thank you
Hi can anyone help? have a transit (ice cream van) had to have new brake cylinders and shoes put on the the ot
yes , it sounds like your brakes were over adjusted on the one side. Make sure the emrgency brake is full released too. Could be a frozen brake cable causing the rear brakes to drag. Only solution is to return to where you had the brakes installed and check the cables and or back off the rear brake shoe adjusters.
good luck
Reply:Yes it is entirely possible for the brakes to be sticking, it sounds like one of the pull of springs has either snapped or become detached allowing the trailing shoe to "self wrap" when reversing.
I'm surprised that you havn't noticed a similar problem when going forwards as the leading shoe would then have the same effect.
It is certainly worth going back to who ever fitted the brakes for you
Reply:yes, calapers could be sticking
Reply:without seeing the van, i can only guess. so what comes to mind is that if the cylnders are not defective, possible, you might look at the flexible hose between the steel line from the master and to the wheel cylinders. age will rust the crimped fittings and will restrict the brake flow. ie apply the brakes under high pressure; return springs don't have the pressure to retract the shoes. of course this means nothing if a spring came off
Reply:brake shoes have leading and trailing edges if the shoes have been put on wrong that would be the symptoms you are having .Did a garage put them on or one of your frinds.
Reply:very possible for brakes to stick, u could very well have a ceased cylinder. I take it since they were rear brakes they were probably drums, make sure u didn't over tighten them. hope that works for u good luck

I like justwond...'s idea but you should spray paint the critters and the wagons GOLD so that you can tell why they are heading west!
I have to construct a diorama, has to fit a standard shoe box. My topic is the California Gold Rush.Any Ideas
A map of California, a few rocks painted gold, a tiny sieve, a little scale to weigh the 'gold'.
Reply:Paint the inside back and sides sky blue - smudge on some white clouds - you can make mountains by crumpling paper bag that has been splashed with dirt color paint and roughly folding them into mountain peaks - glue that against the sky.
Now glue more crumpled bag painted the same way - maybe add some sand (glued) and a trail up the middle and into the distant hills - now add some plastic horses and wagons etc. all heading west - hay put a setting sun in the sky so you know they are going west! Add some small sticks and plant material for sage brush along the way.

What purpose does the sachet of silica gel sometimes found in shoe boxes and the like serve?
ITS TO TAKE OUT ANY MOISTURE TO KEEP THE SHOES IN PERFECT CONDITION
What purpose does the sachet of silica gel sometimes found in shoe boxes and the like serve?
I think it keeps the item fresh and free from smells.
Reply:Silica gel absorbs moisture that would otherwise contaminate and ruin leather or dry goods. It reduces the affect of mildew and or mold. It is a toxic substance and should be diposed properly and like the warning says, "do not eat".

Reply:It absorbs moisture, and serves to prevent things from growing mold. That's probably less needed in arid climates, like Los Angeles.
Reply:Good question! Silica sucks the moisture from the air around it. Many things are packed with silica (shoes, cameras, even some vitamins!) in order to keep humidity to a minimum. If shoes get too humid, mold and mildew can set in. Same with electronic gear. So the manufacturer puts that gel inside to keep the product safe from the damage of humidity.
Silica gel (in a powdery form) is what people use to dry flowers. Bury a real rose in silica sand for a week, and voila! A perfectly dried rose! You can buy silica sand in craft stores.
Here's a cool thing you can do with silica if you have sweaty, stinky feet! Buy the "crystals" cat litter, the kind that looks like rock salt and comes in a clear jug. Fill a pair of cotton socks with clean silica gel cat litter, and stuff them in your shoes every night. The silica gel will dry out the shoes, and the deoderant will give them a good smell! It works! If you live in a humid climate you'll need to replace the gel every month or so. If you live in a dry climate, you can use these handy silica stink-sucking shoe-dryers for years!
Hope that helps!

It tests people's gulibility - it's actually candy, and quite tasty!
Reply:If you look, you will also find it in things like bags of beef jerky and dried fruit. It is to trap the moisture so that these things don't dry out.
Reply:it absorbs wet stuff (moisture even) therefore making them not smell
Reply:It absorbs moisture in order to keep fabrics looking like new, to stop mold, to stop dried food from going soft (hydrating), and to prevent odors from forming.
It's poisonous, though!

I want to get on a plane and help dishout xmas shoe boxes. How do I go about this?
The Samaritans organise this, here is the website:

Or quite often schools and churches also organise shoe boxes for Christmas, contact some local churches to find out what they are doing, and how you can get involved.

don`t ask a goat, ask a reindeer
Reply:Now this is a tough one in our day and age.
I would probably go to the nearest skydiving site and put a few boxes in a large bag and throw them out of the plane before I jumped.
Only trouble is this maybe a little dangerous as the shoe boxes may land on someones head and that wouldn't be a very good xmas for them.
OR
Put little parachutes on the boxes and then they would land softly.
Watch for curious birds that fly by, make sure the boxes are not blue, bower birds have a tendency to steal blue boxes.
Don't forget to take the shoes out of the box.

How could you shrink your body to the size of a shoe box?
Let me think...
You'd have to die first, obviously. Buy some size 15 shoes before that, keep the box.
Remove internal organs, then dry your body, so all moisture is gone. If you want to keep the organs, dry them seperately and put them back in.
Your head would be a major problem, follow the instructions here to get it as small as possible: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrunken_he...
Then you'd probably have to break a few bones, such as your femurs, as many human bones are longer than a shoe box.
Then you'd have to find a way to compact your body a lot. Maybe a big trash compactor, powerful enough to crush bone.
Get someone to put you in the shoebox.
And the job's a good 'un.
How could you shrink your body to the size of a shoe box?
I've seen a hard hat diver completely smushed up into his diving helmet, does that count?.
Reply:Depends on the size of shoes. Or you could get those fancy thigh-high boots with platform fish tanks in the soles. Those would come in a pretty big shoe box.

Is it ok to keep photo albums of past boyfriends?...or shoe boxes with little nic nacs from past boyfriends?
well is it ok? or no? my girl friends does this
Is it ok to keep photo albums of past boyfriends?...or shoe boxes with little nic nacs from past boyfriends?
Time to move on and let go of these items.
Reply:definately NO. She is obviously still holding on to them, she needs to get over it. Put the past in the past.
Reply:Just as long as it doesn't mean anything. At my mom's house (in another state) I have a box of past boyfriends letters, drawings, and pictures, and at our apartment, I have a couple pictures of friends and guys I dated in highschool, but not a box of stuff around from them. But they're also guys I could care less about. And my fiance had one picture of his ex and a shirt she gave him (which I hate just because she gave it to him) but I know probably just like the couple pics in my album, it means nothing to him and he probably doesn't even connect the fact that his ex gave him the shirt when he wears it. I mean, just as long as it's not a shrine to her ex, and just memories from her past that she'd maybe like her kids to see someday or something, then it should be alright. If it bugs you that much though, start a new memory box of your own for her, and ask her that you're going to need that extra space that the box of her ex takes up for your new memories you'll be making together and maybe she can move it to her parents garage.
Reply:I think it is ok you can't take away someones past everyone has one

How can I get started with our church doing the shoe box ministry. We need labels, information. Thanks.?
If you haven't already done so, contact Franklin Graham's group Samaritan's Purse and get on their mailing list. I believe you can do this online at their main webpage. They should send you a complete information kit and a generous supply of pamphlets and labels. If you can't find the Samaritan's Purse information on your own, call other local churches and ask to speak with whoever is running their Operation Christmas Child program.
There are some important things to tell participants about the packages they send. First of all, there are items considered too dangerous to include, such as liquids, fragile glass items and medicines. The Samaritan's Purse material should cover all that. The participants should also know that the lid and box must not be wrapped together--the workers need to inspect the boxes for contraband and the check for expenses.
Also, if the participants cannot locate an actual shoebox, it is acceptable to use a small plastic storage box with a separate lid, like the kind you might find in the craft department at Walmart. Again, do not wrap the lid and box together, although an unwrapped lid can be snapped onto the box for security.
There is a lot more information to be found at the Samaritan's Purse website. You'll need to know where the nearest collection center is located (usually a larger church or community center) and the deadline for drop-offs.

For School I Need 5 Objects To Put In A Shoe Box That Represent Johnny Cash, Any Ideas??
Its for a school book report, I already have a guitar string(because he played guitar) a picture of June Carter(because that was the love of his life) And a cd(because he made records and stuff) I was thinking of somthing black since he had a nickname called 'the man in black' But I dont know.... I just need a few more ideas! Pleeeaaasee help me!!
For School I Need 5 Objects To Put In A Shoe Box That Represent Johnny Cash, Any Ideas??
Here are some ideas:
a Bible, a saw blade to represent Jack's death which profoundly impacted him, a pill bottle, a cotton ball to represent how he would work in the cotton fields with his family as a child
Those are all that I can think of. Don't do the lock, because the other post was right, unlike in Walk the Line, Johnny never did time. In the El Paso arrest he was given a suspended sentence because they only found prescription drugs. I would just paint the inside of the box black to represent that he was the man in black. Here's some other pictures of him:

There are tons of pictures of him if you do a search on yahoo images. You could decoupage a collage of them on the lid of your box. Get a bottle of Modge Podge and brush it on, sticck the pictures on, and the brush on another layer of Modge Podge. It would look really cool. Don't worry, you'll do great! Good Luck!

Can i ship a package through the post office if its in a shoe box??
with duck tape around it? or does it have to be a regular box??
Can i ship a package through the post office if its in a shoe box??
You could, but if you wanted to be really safe you could wrap it in brown paper (like old paper grocery bags) and tape it. This way your box won't open.
Reply:You can, but I wrap it in clean (white or brown) paper, using clear tape.
Reply:Yes you can, as long as it is taped up good
Reply:Yes, you can ship it as long as you have proper tape securing it and proper postage. I've received many interesting type boxed packages in the mail. They really only care about the postage, but if you do send it in a shoe box, just make sure you use brown or clear tape. I am not so certain about duct tape.
Hope this has helped.
Reply:No. The post office wants corrugated cardboard boxes only, sealed with either paper tape (which you almost never see any more) or package-width cellophane tape, although I imagine they might not have a problem with duct tape.

My newly acquired kitten is hiding under the rack where u put ur shoes?
Shes hiding there and it appears shes sleeping i was wondering if she was sleeping there would she pee or poop in the same area..? i tried putting her in the litter box a couple of times and she just walks right out.. helop!
My newly acquired kitten is hiding under the rack where u put ur shoes?
She's just scared, just set some food and water nearby, and the litterbox within her line of sight. Then all you can do is leave her alone and let her come to terms with her new home at her own pace. Don't worry, it shouldn't take too long!
Reply:I would think she is scared. This is a new situation for her and it will take time for her to get acclimated. If she is sleeping then I would leave her alone for right now. Every half hour take her to the litter box. She may walk out but this will teach her where it is at. Make sure she can get to it without having to go a long distance or through a noisy and busy room.
Let her rest for awhile, you may want o provide her with a cardboard box lined with a soft towel or small blanket. Turn it on its side or cut a hole in it so she can get in and out easily. That will give her a dim and quiet space to relax.
Be patient with her. She is experiencing all sorts of new sight, sounds and smells and is overwhelmed by it all.
After she rests for awhile, bring her out, cuddle her against you and talk softly to her while stroking her. Feed her somewhere quiet. Shortly after that, take her back to the litter box. Cats are genetically tuned to use it so it is very easy for her to learn this behavior.
She will begin to come out more and more as she gets used to her surroundings.
Just be patient and calm and she will end up being your best friend.
Be sure to take her to the vet asap so she can be vaccinated, wormed and tested for feline leukemia. Schedule her to be spayed as soon as it is age appropriate.
Good Luck. I hope this helps.
Reply:get a dog
Reply:Usually a cat won't use the bathroom where they sleep but there are some unusual cats that do it. Just keep taking her to her pan and don't give up. She will get the hang of it but right now she is probably getting used to her new surroundings.
Reply:You kitten is just a bit nervous in her new home. Put some feed and water down, if your lucky she might feel hungry, but sometimes Kittens wont eat until you've had them for a day or two. Tehy need to learn to trust you. When it comes out, it might be hyper. hang out with it for a while, it'll eventually learn to trust you.
Reply:Cats are very smart and if you give her time she will get adjusted to the smells and noises and come out to eat and use the litter box. My advice is act as if you dont even have her and within the next few days she will be running around like a baby kitty should!!!
Reply:most animals will not do their business where they sleep
Reply:she might not be used to the surroundings of your home yet if she is recent to your house. and she is most likely just scared, but it could also be that she wants somewhere dark and warm to sleep under. is your shoe rack over top of a vent , if it is she probably likes the warm\cold air coming out of it and if she is sleeping she probably won't have any accidents under there but if she is awake she might. and when she isn't under there you could always move the rack and look to see if there is anything there. if you have any more questions about this i would be happy to help.hope you find the answer out to your kitten problem.

How to make a race car out of a shoe box for my little girl in pre-k.They well be playing races.?
Hmm... Here are a two possibilities...
1. Find some flat toy "cars" (like Legos--where it's just a rectangle with wheels) and tape them to the bottom of the shoe box. Maybe one car per corner. This would probably roll the best and might even win the race. Then decorate the box to look like a car (headlights, windshield, racing stripes, a number, a corporate sponsor (ha ha).
2. Find some Tinker Toys. Poke holes in the sides of the box near the bottom and poke the stick parts through the holes and attach the round parts to the outside for wheels. Then decorate it. This probably will not roll very well, however.
Sounds like fun project. Good luck!

What are the dimensions of an average air Jordan shoe box?
Typical shoe boxes are about 11.5" x 7" x 3.75" (29.5cm x 18cm x 9.5cm).
Take the height times the width times the length and you've got it. Good luck!

What are those little packets for you find in shoe boxes and what are they for?

What are those little packets for you find in shoe boxes and what are they for?
For absorbing moisture.
Reply:Silica gel sachets for absorbing moisture.
Reply:Its called 'silica -gel'. The product comes in different colours and is used to indicate the presence of moisture which the gel absorbs from its surroundings. You can get it colourless, orange turning green, blue turning pink. You can reuse it by drying it out again. It comes in different textures, fine ground, or larger grit sized. The different grain sizes help the moisture to flow through the gel and be absorbed more effectively. You will find it in small sachets inside tablet boxes and drums, use if for drying flowers, use it for keeping anything else moisture free.
Reply:They are there to absorb moisture and keep the shoe from being ruined by moisture/humidity.

What cute places have u found ur cat hiding? shoe box? other?
Had a cat "Trooper" who would wait for our soda boxes to be emptied and he'd wait for us to leave the room, and then he'd squeeze himself into a ball into the box and wait for us to walk back into the kitchen and then he'd "pounce" (as well as he could in the box) and all that would happen is that his legs would come out the carry holes on the box and so all you saw was his legs sticking out and a box running mad around the house. He'd also lay as far up on the bed as he could and hide behind the pillows and wait for us to lie down and then he'd wrap himself around who lever laid closest to him, and he was a full grown cat...just never grew up...lol. He was great. He also played fetch w/ our oldest son, and would try carrying dolls down the hallway. Thanks for reminding me of the great memories!! Have a good one!

Found Bojo in a water bottle case. With water bottles still in the case lol. The kind that you buy from the grocery store, the 24 packs with the plastic on top and the cardboard in it.
Reply:i once went to get clean socks from my dresser and found a fluffy warm kitten, you can only imagine the start i recieved.
Reply:I have found my kitty on the top of my treehouse %26amp; under the grill.
Reply:i had a cat that would hide in the cushions of a couch.... she would peak her head out when you got near so you wouldnt sit on her.
Reply:We once found a kitten we adopted hiding in the dinningroom table! The table was a pedastel type and their was a space between the the leg and the top of the table large enough for her to get through, the leg was hollow, she simply dropped down for a nap and climbed back out.

Kleenex box (he was little then)
behind the cabinets in the bathroom
in the top of the light in the bathroom
in my drawers under the water bed
Reply:I was 4 and a half when i got my kitten and shes almost 10years old now..I used to have a Barbie house in my room next to my kitty's bed. I gt home from pre school one day. I wanted to play babies and i found her sleeping in the 'kitchen' in the doll house. After that the doll house was her bed.. well until she got too big.
Reply:In the christmas tree!
Reply:I had a feral cat once who used to flatten herself in the corner of the room and blend into the wall. Poor little girl was so scared of everything, but she eventually came around and I called her my little sausage with feet.
Reply:Alot of times I find my cat hiding in a homemade cat house I made, also in a shopping bag.
Reply:Xander hides on top of the fridge.
When I first got kitties, I bought them a bed, that neither kitty would go near. After Izzy died, Xander still wouldn't touch it. I washed it and put it back out and the day I brought Mindy home, I went back out for more kitty food and came home to find her in it.
And big fat Xander trying to sleep in there with her. It was too cute!

Reply:ecology has a lot of branches so if the instructions you got weren't more specific just choose any biome you like or one that seems easy and illustrate that. Just put a bunch of plants and animals that belong to that biome as said in the description (where ever you may find that) and make it as best you can

How do you keep at from pooding in the shoe box?
If the cat prefers the shoe box to poo in I wouldn't try to change it. It could be much worse - as you can tell by reading some of the other questions about where cats prefer to go.
How do you keep at from pooding in the shoe box?
Remove the shoe box. If she can not get to it, she can not poo in it.
Reply:I am sorry but I have never had that problem. My cat is like a dog. She meows at the garage door when she needs to go out and do her business. If I am not home she'll wait till I get home. I just got lucky and got a good cat.

Do you save your odd single socks in a shoe box?
just in case the other one, make it back from the Twilight Zone. Or do you just throw them away?
Do you save your odd single socks in a shoe box?
I match it with another single sock. I don't match socks by colour, I match them by thickness.
Reply:not in a box, but in a drawer and I guess I just need to accept the fact that the matching socks are just not gonna show up :(
Reply:I wipe my azz with them
Reply:LOL
No, I just let them mingle in the corner of the drawer, and wear them as pairs now %26amp; then so they don't get lonely . . . during the wait (I think the Sock Fairy will do right by them someday).
Reply:I keep my odd socks right in the sock drawer. Until I have done laundry 1 or 2 times more and didnt find the match. Especially when it was an expensive pair of socks like some of my dress socks.
Reply:I keep them in this bag and once in a while when I find more without matches I take them out and go through them. Usually I can find a few matches. The ones I still have after like a year or two I throw away.
Reply:no
Reply:I get so mad when that happens, I just put them in a paper bag and hope the other will turn up, so I have a bag full of mixed up socks, lol.
Reply:No, they are in the same drawer with those that have their pair.
Reply:I make them into dolls, actually. My cat also has a stash of socks under the bed.
Reply:it depends....if i know i have a couple that are similar or the same, but if it's that one sock that's diff from the rest, probably no.
and i save 'em until it pisses me off basically.
:)
Reply:Hahah ! Good question ! I usually let my cat play with the odd one - and then hope it is not too gross when its pair shows up ! But what I have yet to figure out is HOW do they go missing in the first place !
Reply:no
Reply:I just wear them most of the time. I usually could care less if my socks match or not...
Reply:I keep them for a while, I know it is crazy, but I have got a whole bag full of the family odd socks#
Reply:I AHVE A CONTAINER IN MY GARAGE THAT I PUT THEM IN AND EVERYTIME I DO LAUNDRY I TRY TO MATCH THEM UP.IF THEY ARE IN THERE FOR AWHILE THEN I THROW THEM AWAY

Have you ever tried to put yourself in someone else's shoes?
Have you ever tried to "wear someone's skin" so-to-speak? (spare the Hannibal Lecter jokes, y'all)
I'm being serious. Before you go ranting and raving and bashing on someone, reporting their questions, clicking fityleven times to thumbs down their answer (btw, once works just fine) WHATEVER THEIR FAITH OR LACK OF, try to see things through their eyes, like a grown up.

Have you ever seen the famous ceremony, "The changing of the Shoes"?
Where my wife puts 30 shoeboxes on the bed. She takes out the boots and mukluks and refills the boxes with sandals and loafers. Then back in the closet until Easter.
I do like her in the yellow rubber-ducky Wellies that I got her for her Birthday a few years back.
